‘Szczecińska Wenecja’ – Szczecin’s mini-Venice

Szczecin’s little-known ‘mini-Venice’ is hardly difficult to find, as it’s located directly opposite the city’s main train station, on ul Kolumba.

The complex to be seen in the distance in the image above, a former brewery, was built between 1900 and 1910.

If we go to the ‘official’ szczecin.eu site, we learn that the complex is to be beautifully restored into a hotel, as the whole of Szczecin has the potential to become ‘the Venice of the north’. Then again, pigs might grow wings and master the art of flight. Needless to say, no date is given for this future transformation.

But, I must say, the ruins have a certain melancholic beauty. Please view the gallery below.
