Takuya Murayama – Pogon’s new Japanese signing

Takuya Maruyama, a Japanese right-wing midfield player, has been awarded a three and a half year contract with Pogoń Szczecin.

Takayuma Murayama, better known as ‘Taku’, has been training with Pogoń since November 13th. Pogoń Szczecin vice-president, Grzegosz Smolny has described him in the following words: “He plays intelligently, has a good first touch, is very fast, agile, efficient, pugnacious, has a good throw-in and reads the game well”. ‘Taku’ is Pogon’s second Japanese player, and joins ‘Aka’ (Takafumi Akahoshi) at the Szczecin club.

‘Taku’ joins Pogoń Szczecin from 3rd league Gwardia Koszalin, where he played 15 games, scoring five goals. He was one of three Japanese players at Gwardia, the other two being Kosuke Ikegami and Daisuke Shibusawa.

Before joining Gwardia, ‘Taku’ played in the New South Wales Premier League in Australia, first for Bonyrigg White Eagles, and then Rockdale City Suns, where he made 22 appearances.
